THE VICTIMS

Since the beginning of 2018, there have been 60 killings across London. Of the victims, 51 were male and 10 were female.

January 1st

Steve Frank Navarez-Jara

The first person killed in London in 2018, Steve Frank Navarez-Jara, 20, was born in Ecuador, but lived in Belvedere with his parents. He was studying physics and aerospace at the University of Hertfordshire at the time of his death, with dreams of one day being a pilot.

 

He died after a fight broke out at a New Year’s Eve party, which resulted in him being stabbed to death.

January 3rd

Elizabeta Lacatusu

Elizabeta Lacatusu, 44, moved to London from eastern Romania several years ago, seeking a better quality of life with her then-boyfriend Genu Armeanu. She was on her way home from her workplace — a restaurant in Ilford — when she was stabbed to death, with her throat slit.

 

Armeanu was charged with the murder, but denied it when he appeared in court on January 8th. A trial has been set for June 18th.

January 6th

Vijay Patel

Vijay Patel, 49, moved from India to London in 2006 with his wife and two sons. He lived in Kingsbury and worked at a corner shop in Mill Hill Broadway.

On January 6th, he was knocked to the ground and suffered a head wound, after he refused to serve underage customers.

He was rushed to hospital and put on life support, however he died two days later.

January 8th

Daniel Frederick

Daniel Frederick, 34, was stabbed to death metres from his front door, after returning from a hospital check up with his pregnant partner.

Police believe it was a case of mistaken identity, and have charged two teenagers with his murder.

January 9th

Dami Odeyingbo

Dami Odeyingbo, 18, finished school with aspirations of studying cyber security at university. But, he was stabbed to death in Chislehurst, Bromley before he could do so.

January 11th

Harry Uzoka

Harry Uzoka, 25, was a model who has worked with companies such as Levi's and GQ.

On January 11th, he allegedly fought with three other people because of a romantic dispute. During the clash, he was stabbed three times in the heart.

Two men have been charged with his murder.

January 24th (?)

Seyed Azim Khan

Seyed Azim Khan, 49, was last seen alive at his  work on January 24th. His body was found more than a week later at Ilford Cemetary.

His car was found nearby, and he had made a phone call on the evening he died. His cause of death was trauma to the head.

January 28th

Yaya Mbye

Yaya Mbye, 26, was a football fan who was chased on the George Downing Estate in Stoke Newington. He was attacked and stabbed, before collapsing in a children's playground.

He was rushed to hospital but died later that day.

January 29th

Juan Olmos Saca

Juan Olmos Saca, 39, was stabbed in the chest during an altercation in Peckham. He died in hospital a week later.

Six men were arrested, and five were released without charge.

January 31st

Lily-Mai Saint George

Lily-Mai Saint George was only 11-weeks-old when she died on January 31st. She was found unresponsive at a house in Tottenham and was taken to Great Ormond Street Hospital, where she died three days later. Her cause of death is unknown.

A man and a woman have been arrested and charged with murder.

January 31st

Khader Saleh

Khader Saleh, 25, was at HMP Wormwood Scrubs awaiting sentencing for a drug dealing conviction, when he was stabbed to death.

Three inmates have been charged with his murder.

February 3rd

Hasan Ozcan

Hasan Ozcan, 19, was studying criminology at Canterbury Christ Church University. He was chased near the Gacoigne Estate in Barking, before being attacked and stabbed to death.

February 3rd

Kwabena Nelson

Kwabena Nelson, 22, was a youth worker who dedicated his time and efforts into trying to deter young people from joining gangs.

He was ambushed and stabbed to death near his home in Tottenham. His family believe he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A man has been charged with his murder.

February 8th

Hannah Leonard

Hannah Leonard, 55, was a grandmother originally from Cork, Ireland, who had lived in London since the 1980s.

She was stabbed to death in her flat on the Chalcots Estate in Swiss Cottage. Two people have been charged with her murder.

February 11th

Sabri Chibani

Sabri Chibani, 19, grew up in Piacenza, Italy, but moved to London with his brother in November of 2017 to work as a bartender.

He was stabbed inside a house on Streatham Common, before collapsing on the driveway outside, where he was pronounced dead 40 minutes later.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with his murder.

February 11th

Bulent Kabala

Bulent Kabala, 41, was a taxi driver from Enfield. 

He was driving his silver Mercedes-Benz, before stopping and getting out near a roundabout in Cockfosters. A gang of men then exited a blue van and shot at him several times, killing him.

Police say it was a targeted hit.

February 13th

Saeeda Hussain

Saeeda Hussain, 54, was found dead at an address in Ilford after sustaining serious head injuries.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

February 14th

Lord Promise Nkenda, 17, was an aspiring music producer, before he was run over, chased and stabbed in the chest. Medics attended to him in Canning Town, but he was pronounced dead at the scene 40 minutes later.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with his murder.

February 15th

Mark Smith, 48, was a music-loving father-of-one, who was found with multiple injuries at a flat in East London.

A woman has been charged with his murder.

February 17th

Jozef Boci, 30, was born in Albania but lived in Catford.

 

He sustained serious head injuries after an argument between two groups of men at the North Pole pub in Greenwich and died six days later.

Five men have been charged with his murder.

February 18th

Lewis 'Dotz' Blackman, 19, was a young rapper who lived with his mother near King's Cross. He was stabbed to death after being chased by a group of youths near Logan Place, Kensington.

Six teenagers have been charged with his murder.

February 19th

Rotimi Oshibanjo, 26, was stabbed to death after an altercation at Halliday Square in Southall.

A 39-year-old man has been charged with his murder.

February 20th

Sadiq Aadam Mohammed, 20, was studying business at Middlesex University.

It is believed that he was chased by four men, one of whom had a samurai sword. Police later found him with stab wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

February 20th

Abdikarim Hassan, 17, moved to the UK from Somalia with his family when he was only two-years-old, in order to escape civil war. 

He was studying business at Westminster College, before he was stabbed to death in Kentish Town. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

February 20th

Amir Ellouzi, 24, was shot in the neck whilst in Westminster.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with his murder.

February 25th

Michael Boyle, 44, was originally from Galashiels, Scotland.

He was stabbed whilst at the Sir Robert Peel pub in Southwark, however he was taken to hospital and died there several days later.

March 1st

Christopher Beaumont, 42, was fatally stabbed at his home in Melrose Gardens in Hammersmith. He died at the scene.

A man has been charged with his murder.

March 5th

Laura Navarette De Figueira, 47, was stabbed to death at her home in Twickenham. The bodies of her husband and two sons were found at the bottom of Birling Gap in East Sussex.

Police believe it was a murder-suicide.

March 5th

Kelva Smith, 20, was stabbed to death on Albert Road, South Norwood.

Two people have been charged with his murder.

March 8th

Kelvin Odunuyi, 19, was also known by his rapper name DipDat, as well as Lampz.

He was shot dead outside a Vue Cinema in Wood Green.

While Mr Odunuyi was not a gang member, it is believed he was caught in between an escalating 'postcode war'.

March 12th

Julian Joseph, 36, was attacked on a bus in New Cross, before being taken to hospital with head injuries.

He died nearly two weeks later.

March 13th

Nikolai Glushkov, 68, was the former deputy director of Aeroflot, Russia's largest airline company. He was also the finance chief for AvtoVAZ, a car manufacturing company.

He received political asylum in the UK in 2010, after a criminal conviction in Russia. But, he was killed by compression to the neck at his home.

Mr Glushkov was an outspoken critic of  Vladimir Putin and feared becoming a target.

March 14th

Joseph William-Torres, 20, was shot to death whilst sitting in a stationary car in Walthamstow.

He died en route to the hospital.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with his murder.

March 14th

Lyndon Davis, 18, was a rapper known as Lynx. He was found with stab wounds on a road in Chadwell Heath, and died in hospital the following morning. 

March 16th

Naomi Hersi, 36, was a transgender woman who loved tennis, music and films.

Her final post to Twitter was a news article on violence faced by transgender women of colour. 

She was found dead in a hotel room near Heathrow Airport with stab wounds.

A man has been charged with her murder.

March 17th

Russell Jones, 23, was ambushed by four hooded men outside shops in Enfield, just weeks before he was due to graduate from the University of Hertfordshire.

He was shot and stabbed to death and died half an hour after he was found at the scene.

March 18th

Tyrone Silcott, 42, was a mechanic and father-of-two. 

He was stabbed to death during an altercation at a party in Enfield.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with his murder.

March 19th

Balbir Johal, 48, was stabbed in Southall.

He was rushed to hospital, where he died less than an hour later.

Two men have been charged with his murder.

March 19th

Jermaine Johnson, 41, was stabbed to death in Waltham Forest.

A 17-year-old has been charged with his murder.

March 20th

Beniamin Pieknyi, 21, moved to Milton Keynes from Romania in January.

He was stabbed to death at the Stratford Centre after allegedly stepping in to help a friend who was involved in an altercation.

March 25th

Abraham Badru, 26, was a PhD student and a football coach.

He has received a police award for bravery, after he saved a woman from being gang raped at a party. He later testified against the men at their trial.

He was shot as he got out of a car near his family home in Dalston.

His family believe it was a revenge killing.

March 25th

Wieslaw Kopczynski, 59, was assaulted at his home in Barking, where his skull was fatally fractured.

March 26th

David Potter, 50, was stabbed in the neck at his flat in Tooting.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

March 29th

Reece Tshoma, 23, was stabbed in the neck near Plumstead station. 

A friend drove him to the hospital, where he died later that evening.

March 30th

Originally from Tanzania, Leyla Mtumwa, 38, was recently married.

She was found critically injured by police after being stabbed in the neck and chest at a house in Haringey.

A 38-year-old man has been charged with her murder.

March 31st

Ourania Lambrou, 80, moved to London when she was 17-years-old from Cyprus. She has six children, 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was allegedly pushed over on a street in Kentish Town by a 29-year-old aspiring actor. She was later discovered to have a brain bleed and died the next day.

April 1st

Devoy Stapleton, 20, was found in a pool of his own blood by police in Earlsfield.

He had been stabbed after making his way home from a pub in Wandsworth.

April 2nd

Tanesha Melbourne-Blake, 17, was out with friends in Chalgrove, Tottenham, when a car pulled up and people began shooting at her.

Medics and police attended the scene, but she was pronounced dead soon after.

April 2nd

Amaan Shakoor, 16, was shot in the face by two men whilst standing outside Walthamstow Leisure Centre with friends.

April 4th

Henry Vincent, 37, was a convicted criminal.

He was killed by a 78-year-old man when he tried to burgle his home.

The man will not face any charges.

April 4th

Babatunde Akintayo Awofeso, 53, was killed during an altercation at a Betfred in Hackney.

His cause of death is still unknown.

Israel Ogunsola, 18, died near a railway bridge on Link Street in Hackney, half an hour after being stabbed.

April 4th

April 12th

John Maclean, 35, was stabbed to death at a property in Tower Hamlets.

A 25-year-old woman has been charged with his murder.

April 15th

Samantha Clarke, 38, was an assistant hotel manager.

 

She was stabbed to death at her home in Brixton.

April 16th

Raul Nicolaie, 26, moved to the UK from Romania around five years ago. He loved playing football.

He was stabbed to death at a flat in Colindale.

April 16th

Sami Sidhom, 18, was a football fan who was studying to become a lawyer.

He was stabbed to death metres from his home in Forest Gate.

April 17th

John Woodward, 47, was a construction worker who was working on the roof of a building in Hatton Garden when he died.

The cause of death was blunt force trauma, and it was initially believed that it was accidental. However, he is now being treated as a victim of a serious assault.

April 19th

Aaron Springett, 32, was involved in a fight in Morden, before being beaten to death.

He was rushed to hospital, but died the next day.

April 22nd

Kwasi Anim-Boadu, 20, was stabbed to death in Finsbury Park, just weeks before his 21st birthday.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with his murder.

May 1st

Leon Reid, who was in his 30s, was a musician and father-of-two.

He was shot to death outside Queensbury tube station.

May 5th

Rhyhiem Ainsworth Barton, 17, was shot to death in Southwark.
